Aquas Calientes, Peru

Aquas Calientes is often described as a boring way-station for sleeping close to Machu Picchu.  We found the town, although small, very charming!  It has a river running through it, is surrounded by mountains, is in the rain forest, and has tons of great restaurants and shops.  And, there are Thermal baths in town to relax in after climbing all day.

To get to Aguas Caliente from Cuzco, take a taxi or bus to Olamtyambo, then a train.  Each are 1 1/2 hours.  Great ride!
